Our company is the biggest company in the area involved with roof repairs. We are in hundreds of homes every year analyzing and solving problems and roof leaks. We have been experiencing more  problems with ventilation balance every year. We believe this has been due to the building boom of the late eighties through 2007. Soffit vents are plugged up! No other companies seem to be addressing these problems in conjunction with roof replacement or in standard practice along with roof service maintenance.

This is an aluminum soffit with continuous ventilation penetrations. It is plugged solid.

Often times plugged soffit vents or lack of ventilation balance will cause snow to be sucked into attics through the roof louvers.

Snow that has come through poor ventilation.

We have seen rain water drawn into roof louvers as well.

The following Pictures are a progression of temperatures on the same day in the same house. 

The first picture shows the outside temperature, which is 94 degrees.

The next picture shows the temperature of the roof on the outside, which is 143 degrees.

The final picture shows the temperature inside of the attic, which is a shocking 125 degrees.
